Based on the Central Coast, internationally acclaimed artist Maree Azzopardi presents her new exhibition of mixed media artworks which have emerged from a chaotic world marred by fires, floods and plague. The artist simultaneously focuses on aspects of rejuvenation, rebirth and the power of the human spirit. The Fireworks series has been created over the past 18 months from ink, paper, paint, canvas and found objects, including embellishments in gold, charcoal scavenged from the bushfires and debris washed-up on Central Coast beaches. In her works, Azzopardi questions the status of the human condition in the wider context of war, grief, loss and regeneration, looking at where we now stand as individuals in the landscape of a challenging world.
